Biodiversity of Iran
Iran is the most unique country in the Middle East in terms of biodiversity. With twelve distinct climate zones and six ecological transition regions, the country encompasses an impressive range of landscapes. Although Iran is often associated with deserts and sand dunes, it also features striking mountain ranges, lush forests, and diverse wetlands. This ecological variety is so remarkable that in some regions, the distance between a desert and a forest can be less than fifty kilometers — a characteristic that makes Iran truly exceptional on a global scale.

Iran is bordered by seas to both the north and the south, and it contains some of the most significant mountain ranges in the Middle East.
Furthermore, Iran hosts six different types of forests. These range from the broadleaf Hyrcanian and Arasbaran forests in the north, to the Zagros oak forests in the west, and the mangrove forests in the south. In addition, arc-shaped forests in hot and arid regions and the unique coniferous (Irano-Turanian) forests in mountainous areas have fostered a rich plant diversity and an extraordinary variety of wildlife throughout the country.
Cultures Of Iran
Today, Iran stands as the heir to one of the world’s most ancient civilizations, established 7,000 years ago, with its empire founded 2,500 years ago. It existed alongside the great empires of Greece, Rome, and Egypt, and shared its eastern borders with China. This land saw the birth of the world’s first urban civilization and became home to countless smaller civilizations over the millennia.

Modern Iran is a vibrant mosaic of ethnic groups, including Azeris, Kurds, Arabs, Persians, Baluch, Turkmens, and many others, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Its diverse languages and profound artistic heritage have influenced numerous neighboring cultures.

With such a remarkable historical legacy and cultural diversity, Iran remains one of the most celebrated countries in the world for its local and traditional cultures.
